Ninety days on the TTC.

If your licence is suspended, you can't drive, not even to work, so the plan is transit, rides and a talk at work. After 47 fares in a month, the rest are free, and One Fare covers transfers to GO and 905 buses.

This page is the plan for the 90 days. For the other papers in your hand, start on the papers page.

The 90 days already started, and driving inside them is its own offence.

The 90 days started at the roadside and run whatever happens with the charge. What the suspension is, what it costs and how it ends are all on Your paper says 90 days. This page is only about getting around.

One rule shapes everything below. Driving a motor vehicle on a highway while your licence is suspended is an offence under section 53(1) of Ontario's Highway Traffic Act. It would be a second charge, separate from this one. So every plan here has someone else driving, or no car at all.

The first week has three jobs: the car, the commute, the call.

  1. The car. It may be in a tow yard for the first week. That's on Your paper says 7 days.
  2. The commute. Work out the trip to work before your next shift: which bus or train, how long it takes, where you change. Plan it on ttc.ca or gotransit.com.
  3. The call. Talk through your paper. The suspension runs on its own. The charge is the part with a court date.

The TTC stops charging you after 47 fares a month.

Since August 31, 2026, the TTC caps fares by the month. After 47 eligible TTC fares in a calendar month, the rest of that month's TTC trips are free (ttc.ca, checked October 21, 2026). Most monthly passes ended on the same date; the Adult 12-Month and Post-Secondary passes remain.

Three things to know about the cap:

  • Use the same card or device every trip. The cap counts by payment method.
  • Cash and PRESTO tickets don't count toward it.
  • It starts again each calendar month. Ninety days cover parts of three or four months.

One Fare makes the TTC to GO or 905 transfer free.

If your trip crosses a city line, One Fare matters. Transfers between the TTC and Brampton Transit, Durham Region Transit, MiWay or York Region Transit are free within two hours of the first TTC tap. Going from GO to the TTC, the TTC trip is free up to three hours from your first GO tap. Going from the TTC to GO, the TTC fare is reimbursed if you tap onto GO within two hours of your first TTC tap (ttc.ca, checked October 21, 2026).

It works with PRESTO, PRESTO in a mobile wallet, or a debit or credit card. Tap the same card or device each time.

GO fares go by distance, so this page has no GO fare. Plan the trip on gotransit.com.

Rides fill the gaps transit leaves.

Some trips don't work by bus: an early shift, a site off the routes, the school run. For those:

  • Family and friends with a licence. Set days are easier to say yes to than every day.
  • A carpool with a co-worker who already drives your way.
  • A taxi or rideshare for the odd trip.
  • Walking or a bike for the short ones.

In every one of these, someone with a licence is driving, or nobody is.

Work is the hard part, so raise it on the call.

If you drive for a living, or your job is far from any route, the 90 days land hardest here. This page can't tell you what to say to an employer, or whether to say anything. That depends on your job and your case.

What helps this week: work out the commute, and write down which days are hardest. Then have the work question ready when you call.

Your court date is a trip too.

The court date is on your paper, and getting there is part of the 90-day plan. No licence. Still on time. Which courthouse is on your paper? Each building has its own page: Your paper says Toronto, Your paper says Brampton, Your paper says Oshawa, Your paper says Newmarket, Your paper says Milton. Plan it like the commute, and leave time.

The line on your paper decides what the court date is about: 320.14(1)(b), over 80, or 320.15, refusal, for example.

If the case ends in a conviction, other rules follow later, including how the interlock program works. Charged is not convicted. That is a later question, and one for the call.

Common questions.

How do you get around when your licence is suspended?

In the GTA, mostly by transit and rides. TTC trips are free for the rest of the month after 47 fares on the same card, and One Fare makes the TTC transfer to GO or 905 buses free (checked October 21, 2026). For the gaps, someone with a licence drives.

Can I drive to work during a 90-day suspension in Ontario?

No. Driving on a highway while your licence is suspended is an offence under section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act, a new charge separate from this one. The rules of the suspension itself are on the 90-day page.

Is there a TTC monthly pass now?

Most TTC monthly passes ended on August 31, 2026. The Adult 12-Month and Post-Secondary passes remain. In their place, after 47 eligible fares in a calendar month on the same card, the rest of that month's TTC trips are free (ttc.ca, checked October 21, 2026).

Do I pay twice going from GO to the TTC?

Not with One Fare. Tap the same PRESTO card, mobile wallet, debit or credit card each time. From GO to the TTC, the TTC trip is free up to three hours from your first GO tap (ttc.ca, checked October 21, 2026).
